NORLAND THE LIAR
Once upon a time there lived a sailorman named Norland. He and his crew went for a journey through the sea by their ship.
One day he heard a voice like the ring of a bell. Then he went out to the deck and looked around, but there was only the blue water and the horizon of the sea. The voice still ringing. He decided to follow that voice.
“Sail the ship to north,” said Norland to his crew.
“Aye aye sir,” they answered
Then they sailed to north. They through a storm for two days and finally they could see an island.
They landed and started to observe. Unexpectedly, there were many bars of gold on that land. When they want to brought all that precious things, suddenly a group of people appeared. They caught Norland and his crew. They were the tribe who lived on that island.
Norland and his crew were brought into the altar. They’re gonna be sacrificed to cure a disease that happened on that island. Norland knew what kind of disease it was, because he was not only a sailor but also a doctor. He offered to the chief to cure that disease, if he failed, he was ready to be sacrificed.
The chief accepted that. Then Norland and his crew started to find some plants in the forest. They also brought some medicine from their ship. Norland extracted all things that they needed into the cure. He made it. The cure worked and the disease was healed completely.
The Chief and the villagers thanked him and his crew. Then The Chief introduced himself.
“Thanks, you are our savior. My name is Jack,” the chief said.
“You’re welcome, my name is Norland,” he replied.
Then both of them became a good friend. Jack said that their tribe was stucked on earth for a thousand years. They originally came from the sky and ring the bell everyday so their family up there could hear it and the island could back to the sky. Norland was shocked, but he knew that his friend told the truth.
“To express our gratitude, take all this gold before you going back,” Jack said.
“Really ? Thanks, but our ship is full, we can’t take all of that things,” he replied.
“You can go back here anytime my friends,” Jack answered.
“Ohh, then I will back here again and bring more ships,” Norland said.
Norland decided to back to his homeland. He reported to the king for what was just he discovered. The king was really excited, then he ordered Norland to back on that island again and gave him a several ships.
He sailed again to that island. From the far far away, he looked that island with his telescope. The island was blown up into the sky. Finally for a thousand years, the island was backed to the sky. Norland couldn’t believe his eyes. Unfortunately, he was the only man who saw that amazing phenomenon.
Norland was tried to tell the people about that phenomenon, but nobody believed it. Then he decided to back and reported it to the king. The king couldn’t believe such a ridiculous story and he really mad. He ordered to execute Norland because he thought that Norland was lied. Norland was executed and he known as “Norland The Liar” although he was told the truth.
