Monkey & Donkey

Once upon a time, there were a monkey and a donkey. They lived as neighbors in the middle of a jungle. The monkey always made fun of the donkey. He told the donkey that the only thing the donkey could do was just being lazy and to become a slowpoke. The monkey liked to talk a lot. He was also a smart monkey. It made him feel superior. In contrast, the donkey was not as smart as the monkey. Yet, without the monkey knowing it, the donkey always had a deep thought. He was a wise donkey.

One day, they got news that a group of human would destroy the jungle. They should make such a long journey to get to a place where they could live peacefully, named Rekhonzoda. That place was located on the other side of the world. They went out of the jungle on the next day. Before taking the journey, the monkey mocked the donkey again. He said that he would be the first arriving to the place and left the donkey alone to finish the journey. The donkey just remained silent as he knew that he often received the same words. The journey had begun.

The monkey took the journey in a hurry. He did not care about the condition surrounding him when he was going to Rekhonzoda. The only thing he wanted was just to be the first one finishing the journey and made the donkey become such a loser. On the other hand, the donkey committed to do different action. He often stopped when he saw something interesting. He collected food and jewelry found in the middle of the journey. He really enjoyed the journey and arrived just 2 days after the monkey. He was really surprised by what he saw. He found the monkey had already died.

After asking the other animals living there, the donkey knew that the monkey could not handle his hunger anymore. The animals had offered to do a favor, but the monkey refused it arrogantly. He said that he did not need for anyone’s help. However, a monkey is just a monkey. He is not the God who does not need for anyone’s help. He died several hours after he arrived in Rekhonzoda because of exhaustion and hunger. The donkey learned a lesson that he should not be on a rush when doing something that seemed to be difficult. He had to look forward, make some of preparation, and enjoy the process of achieving the goal. He also realized that every creature in this world could not live by his own self.

The donkey dropped his loads. He started to plant the seed of the fruit after he had done eating. He sold a half of the jewelry to the animals then started to build his own house. He lived the rest of his life peacefully.
